Apricity Is In The Air: Why Winter is the Secret Season for Your Next Photo Session

Winter often gets a bad rap for photography, people worry about the grey skies, the biting wind, and the "dead" look of the trees. But here’s a professional secret: Winter is actually one of the most versatile times for families, new babies and branding sessions. The beaches are quiet, sunset is basically mid afternoon, but there is every excuse to stay indoors. Whether you are looking to update your professional headshots or capture your family’s latest milestone, the next two months offer a unique opportunity to get creative.

For sessions booked in January and February, I take a "hybrid" approach to ensure you get stunning results without shivering through the whole process.

  • The Plan A: Cosy Indoors All winter sessions are primarily scheduled for an indoor location. This could be the comfort of your own home, your workplace or, other inside spaces (Mothecombe tea house, your favourite cafe, other undercover areas) . We control the temperature, the lighting, and the "vibe," ensuring you look relaxed and polished.
  • The Plan B: The Outdoor Wildcard We all know that winter weather can be unpredictable. If we wake up on the day of your shoot and the weather looks gorgeous (think crisp blue skies or a magical dusting of frost), we have the option to pivot to a backup outdoor location; I'm thinking magical Dartmoor or a stark, empty beach.

This flexibility allows us to capture those natural light shots if the sun decides to grace us, while having the security of a warm indoor space as our primary "set."

Special Winter Pricing

I’m offering exclusive winter rates for all sessions booked through to the end of February. Whether you’re refreshing your business website or wanting to capture your family before the kids grow another inch, now is the most budget-friendly time to do it.
